California: New location in Desert Hot Springs region?
New York: Return to Binghamton?
North Carolina: Return to Charlotte?

Who’s That Girl?

That girl on the back cover of the IAFC brochure is Lisa Abbott, an AEA member for the past nine years. She is a full time interior designer and a part time aquatic fitness instructor at the Princeton Club in New Berlin, Wisconsin. Lisa attended her first IAFC in 2003 and has attended all the yearly conferences since, with the exception of 2010 when she was on a mission trip in Uganda. “I look forward to IAFC every year as I have made many friends from all over the world and I feel so energized spending time learning with a group of people who share my passion for water fitness,” says Lisa. One of her favorite IAFC memories was the first time she experienced Watsu. “Wow - that was the most unique, relaxing experience.”  She enjoys working crew/staff positions at IAFC and says that being on the Welcoming committee last year was a blast. Lisa loves helping others reach their fitness goals and always promotes the benefits of working in the water environment. “My goal personally and professionally is to make a difference in some small way every day,” says Lisa.   Oh, and she sometimes refers to herself as Lisa Jovi. She is a huge Bon Jovi fan and has had a few close encounters with the singer, including a dance and kiss onstage in 2003.

LOOK FOR LISA AT IAFC 2012!

Heart Health Month

February is American Heart Month and unfortunately most of us know someone who has had heart disease or stroke. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States; one in every three deaths is from heart disease and stroke, equal to 2,200 deaths per day.

Diet and exercise is a key factor in maintaining a healthy heart. AEA instructors have the exercise part covered in the pool, but what the diet part? Below are some interesting tidbits to pass on to your students.
